Day 18: Flying back home
Sunday, 01 September 2013
Flying back home I closed my eyes and took a moment to collect my thoughts. I could hardly believe that the Episode I of our Baltic Sea odyssey was over. It was very emotional for me on every level. I was keen that we made it safe alongside the Gulf of Bothnia, and without our little daughters catching any cold nor viral infection. These were my major concerns before we hit the road. At the same time I was feeling sad that the adventure came to an end, at least till the Episode II.
Day 17: Stockholm
Saturday, 31 August 2013
It was the last day of our trip. Seeing Stockholm from the water was a must, so we had 3-hours archipelago sightseeing trip combined with a lunch on board on our agenda for today. We received an invitation for the tour from Strömma and I was nicely surprised when it occurred that they prepared a semi-private cabin, shared with two other gentleman, for us, so that we could enjoy our meal in a peaceful atmosphere.
Day 16: Stockholm
Friday, 30 August 2013
I woke up early and went outside for a few minutes just needing to take a walk on a deck and look at the landscape. We were cruising with a gentle speed through the archipelago of the Åland Islands. It was a crisp morning, with the sky covered with a blanket of clouds. The air smelled fantastic. In the distance I could see a massive cruise ahead of us and other ones were steaming by. The sea was calm, and we seemed to be hardly moving.
Day 15: From Helsinki to Stockholm
Thursday, 29 August 2013
We all were really excited today. After days spent on the road, we were making the crossing through the Baltic Sea on a cruise-ferry.
Yesterday we went to explore the terminal and get some info about the process since it was for the first time when we were travelling by boat with a car. The lady behind the counter checked our reservation and confirmed that all was good, and advised to check-in around one hour before departure. It was a bit surprising considering the fact that airlines recommend to do the same two hours before the flight. But here, with four of us and a car - I thought that I misunderstood her, but she said that the gates would be opened around two hours earlier, but arriving one hour would be just fine.
