We took a day off from traveling and spent the whole day in Helsinki. After all the challenges of previous days our little girls deserved much needed rest.

Experiencing Helsinki by sea was just what we needed on this trip, so we took IHA-Lines 1,5h lunch cruise through the beautiful Eastern Archipelago, and spent the rest of the day wandering on the streets, absorbing the city and discovering its charms.

Of all the capitals in the world, only Reykjavik, in Iceland, lies further north. Helsinki lies also on the same latitude as Anchorage, in Alaska – my biggest dream…, but this is for another story.

We had a great time on our last day in Finland, but I couldn’t get my head around the fact that we only had a few more days left before the Episode I of our project would be over, and it made me feel a bit sad. However, we plan to get started the Episode II of our Baltic odyssey in Helsinki, so we should be back there in a few months’ time.
