The highlight of our day was visiting a 42.5 metres tall lighthouse of Tahkuna on the island of Hiiumaa in the West Estonian Archipelago.
Lighthouses usually have an incredible impact on me. There is simply something romantic in those lonely towers shining in the dark and guiding sailors through dangerous coastlines or providing safe entries to harbors. And, the breath-taking sceneries seen from the top and completed by the sensation given by the blowing wind are the rewards for those who have courage and take an effort of climbing.
With Klara and Laura taking their naps in a car, fearless Sylwia got to the top of Tahkuna and was stuck by the sense of awe that took away any words. I decided to admire the lighthouse from the terra-firma. A chicken me.
Formed 455 million years ago as a result of a meteorite explosion, Hiiumaa is one of the oldest islands in the world.
