There were clouds hanging low and not a hint of a clear sky on the horizon when we were passing through the Mamore Gap on the Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal. It was a melancholy place, which made me think of our journey as a succession of days, of skies, of colors and of places that are lost in the mist of time.
The Wild Atlantic Way route has taken us through many beautiful sites and I knew that our trip was striking deep into me, that each day seemed to intensify the following day. Stopping the car to take a good breath of clean air and look at the Atlantic opening up in the distance was always an awe-inspiring experience. I couldn’t get bored of it.
