From the great world of wonders, I think that this is the Geokaun Mountain on the Valentia Island in County Kerry that will probably remain in my mind as the quintessence of what the Wild Atlantic Way has on offer.
I couldn’t encompass the entire picture in one glance, but wherever I turned a great wave of emotion swept over me.
The infinite Atlantic to the west. The lighthouse at Cromwell Point and fantastically shaped islands of Beginish, Lamb and Church slightly to the north-east. Then, Knight’s Town further to the north-east. And finally, Portmagee to the south. A good weather with some cloud, but plenty of sunshine. Fresh air and gorgeous green. It all contributed to the scene. And I had to rub my eyes in amazement and was prepared to swear that I’ve never seen anything more beautiful.
